Ahora que el Covid19 nos ha cortado un poco las alas internacionales, pero tus deseos de descubrir paraísos inexplorados siguen intactos, te propongo un plan que no puedes rechazar. Si estas planeando unas mini vacaciones o escapada romántica ,Tenerife puede que sea el lugar perfecto para ello , y te das cuenta que lo único que conoces es que vas a las islas afortunadas, pero no mucho más.

Es lo que me pasó a mí al llegar a la isla hace 16 años. Un flechazo total, y después de todo este tiempo y miles de kilómetros recorridos dentro de la isla ( según el contador de mis coches más de 300.000km) seguimos descubriendo lugares secretos y paisajes de ensueño.

Una de las primeras cosas que se da uno cuenta al llegar es que la isla es muy muy alta. incluso desde la ventanilla del avión podrás ver un volcán inmenso que sale de mitad de las aguas del Atlantico para darte la bienvenida.

Si vienes en invierno es posible que veas su cumbre nevada y cuando aterrices estarás deseando irte a la playa del calor.Si, esto es una isla de contrastes. Está lleno de microclimas, así es que uno de los primeros consejos que te voy a dar es que lleves ropa y accesorios para todos los tipos de clima en la maleta: «cholas» ( flip-flop) y toalla por supuesto, pero tambien un abriguito para el frio y un paraguas, porque nunca se sabe que clima vas a disfrutar 3 calles más allá.

Dia 1. LLegada y aterrizaje. Day 1. Arrival and landing.
Tenerife está a Tan solo 2 horas en avión de Madrid y aunque los mapas del tiempo lo sitúan en el Mediterraneo ( dentro de un cuadradito blanco) en realidad está unos cuantos cientos de kilómetros al sur, a la altura del Sahara y Mauritania. Gracias a esto tenemos una temperatura maravillosa todo el año y a veces la famosa «calima» ( nubes de arena del desierto)
Tenerife is only 2 hours by plane from Madrid and although the weather maps place it in the Mediterranean (within a white square) it is actually a few hundred kilometers to the south, at the height of the Sahara and Mauritania. Thanks to this we have a wonderful temperature all year round and sometimes the famous «calima» (clouds of desert sand)
Así es que nada mejor que después de un largo o corto día de aviones y aeropuertos, disfrutes las maravillosas instalaciones de tu hotel o te des una vuelta para disfrutar la playa más cercana. La máxima para este día es armonizar con el ritmo pausado de la isla. Los «godos» lo llaman estar aplatanados, pero nosotros lo llamamos saber vivir bien.
So, nothing better than after a long or short day of planes and airports, enjoying the wonderful facilities of your hotel or taking a walk to enjoy the nearest beach. Si no has alquilado un coche en el aeropuerto , la tarde será una buena idea para agenciarte uno. La isla es muy manejable en coche , pero el transporte publico brilla un poco por su ausencia y los vehículos de alquiler son muy baratos ( no necesitarás un alta gama para distancias tan cortas) y hay bastante oferta tanto dentro como fuera del hotel.Hay empresas locales muy confiables como autoreisen o Cicar por si las quereis echar un vistazo ( como no nos pagan publicidad no os puedo ofrecer ningún código de descuento. ya lo siento 😉
If you haven’t rented a car at the airport, the afternoon will be a good idea to get one. Dia 2 Comienza la aventura. Montaña Teide – Day 2 The adventure begins. Mount Teide
Casi como descubridores , lo primero que se me ocurre ofreceros para haceros a la idea de la magnitud de la isla es una visita al Parque nacional del Teide. Es una auténtica maravilla en todos los sentidos.Pero no madrugues, disfruta de un buen brunch y coge energías ( porque en el Parque nacional la oferta gastronómica no es precisamente la más deliciosa de la isla) .El Teide es uno de los destinos favoritos de los visitantes de la isla y aún así puede que encuentres áreas donde te sientas realmente solo! Muy lejos de lo que la gente cree, no es solo el inmenso crater que encuentras en el centro de la isla y que se encuentra a 3718metros de altura. Tiene muchísimo más que ver. Dispone de cientos de rutas de senderismo para todos los niveles y miradores sobre las nubes que nos harán descubrir la increíble naturaleza de esta isla.

Si lo planificas con tiempo en wikilock hay mucha oferta de rutas a seguir.La mayoría bien señalizadas y casi sin perdida.

If you plan it ahead of time, on wikilock there is a wide range of routes to follow. Most of them are well signposted and almost without getting lost.

Te avisamos de que el sendero de la cumbre Telesforo-Bravo es de uso restringido y necesitaras sacar el permiso con antelación.
Un truco muy recomendable es reservar noche en el albergue del Teide – Refugio de Altavista ( al que se puede acceder como pateo desde la base o utilizando el teleférico y bajando a él desde la estación de llegada). Luego despertando muy temprano puedes subir a la cumbre y disfrutar del amanecer, una experiencia inolvidable. eso si tendrás que abandonar el camino antes de que lo abran al publico con acceso restringido y trae ropa especializada ( no es un paseo para principiantes)
Puedes pasar casi el día completo disfrutando del Teide y de su paisaje o terminar la visita simplemente atravesándolo.
We warn you that the Telesforo-Bravo summit trail is of restricted use and you will need to obtain permission in advance.
A highly recommended trick is to book a night at the Teide hostel – Refugio de Altavista (which can be accessed as a kick from the base or by using the cable car and going down to it from the arrival station). Then waking up very early you can climb to the summit and enjoy the sunrise, an unforgettable experience. that is if you will have to leave the path before it is opened to the public with restricted access and bring specialized clothing (it is not a walk for beginners)
You can spend almost the whole day enjoying Mount Teide and its landscape or end the visit simply by crossing it.
Si estás en el sur te recomiendo que entres por Arona al parque y bajes por la zona de las lagunetas para volver a coger la autovía de vuelta. Cenar en cualquiera de los restaurantes típicos de la Esperanza ( como el mesón campestre) o algún auténtico guachinche es una propuesta maravillosa.
If you are in the south, I recommend that you enter the park through Arona and go down through the area of the lagoons to take the highway back. Dining at any of the typical restaurants of Esperanza (such as the country inn) or some authentic guachinche is a wonderful proposal.
Si estas alojado en el norte, te recomiendo atravesar el parque nacional entrando por la Laguna y bajar por Santiago del Teide-Chio para disfrutar del atardecer cenando frente a los acantilados de los Gigantes. Un plan absolutamente redondo.
If you are staying in the north, I recommend you cross the national park entering through the Lagoon and go down through Santiago del Teide-Chio to enjoy the sunset dining in front of the Los Gigantes cliffs. An absolutely round plan.
Después de cenar puedes volver a tu alojamiento utilizando la autovía ( es la opción más cómoda) o para los mas aventureros volver a atravesar el Teide de noche, lo cual es una experiencia mágica. Las estrellas casi las puedes tocar con los dedos. Hay algunas empresas locales que te llevan a ver estrellas con telescopios y es muy interesante. Pero posiblemente será una ruta demasiado larga para un solo día.
After dinner you can return to your accommodation using the highway (it is the most comfortable option) or for the more adventurous, cross Teide again at night, which is a magical experience. You can almost touch the stars with your fingers. There are some local companies that take you to see stars with telescopes and it’s very interesting. But possibly it will be too long a route for a single day.
Dia 2. Las playas del sur. Day 2. The southern beaches.
Una vez vistas las dimensiones de la isla el dia antes y la calidad de las carreteras ( a veces pueden desesperar un poco los atascos que hay) podrás decidir si quieres aventurarte más lejos o descubrir cerca de tu alojamiento, los maravillosos sitios y actividades que te ofrece la isla.
Pero hemos venido a Tenerife y nos encanta estar morenos, asi es que vamos a descubrir las playas.

- Las vistas. En Los Cristianos. aunque suele estar abarrotada es una playa con un montón de servicios, bastante limpia, super segura y muy cómoda. excepto el aparcamiento. Puedes aparcar en el muelle que será la opción más sencilla. Si decides pasar el día por aqui te recomiendo los restaurantes de la parte alta del CC San Telmo, justo sobre la playa con unas vistas maravillosas y de una calidad precio muy recomendable. Ademas hay de todo tipo, carne, pescado, pizzeria, etc…
- Playa de las Vistas. In Los Cristianos. Although it is usually crowded, it is a beach with a lot of services, quite clean, super safe and very comfortable. except parking. You can park on the pier which will be the easiest option. If you decide to spend the day here, I recommend the restaurants in the upper part of CC San Telmo, right on the beach with wonderful views and highly recommended value for money. There are also all kinds, meat, fish, pizzeria, etc …
- Las Americas. una playa más natural y muy local. Sobre todo frecuentado por el mundo surfero. uno de los mejores sitios para aprender a hacer surf en la isla. Mi tienda surfera favorita y escuela es la que regenta Dinnio, una leyenda local. Palm Beach surf shop.

- Para los mas aventureros:La playa salvaje de Diego Hernandez. hay que darse una pequeña pateada pero es un spot secreto digno de conocer.
- For the more adventurous: The wild beach of Diego Hernandez. you have to take a little kick but it is a secret spot worth knowing.
- Playa del Médano. Si eres un amante de los deportes de mar y viendo este es un spot único en el mundo. Tambien incluye alguna de las playas nudistas muy discretas y el famoso chiringuito pirata donde tomar unas cervezas con unas vistas increibles.
- Medano Beach. If you are a lover of sea sports and watching this is a unique spot in the world. It also includes some of the very discreet nudist beaches and the famous pirate beach bar where you can have a few beers with incredible views.
- Playa del Duque: Es una playa natural preciosa flanqueada por unas rocas volcánicas impresionantes y con unos servicios muy exclusivos. Esta zona es posiblemente una de las más caras de la isla pero merece la pena darse el capricho.

- Playa de Los Gigantes: la sensación de entrar en un rincón secreto de la isla y quedarse con una cara de sorpresa total al descubrir la vista de esos impresionantes acantilados que caen sobre el mar.
